RESEARCHER, EDUCATOR, CO-DIRECTOR FOR THE DRESS & BODY ASSOCIATION

Therèsa M. Winge is an Associate Professor in Apparel and Textile Design at Michigan State University, as well as the Co-Director for the Dress and Body Association. Winge studies and writes about subcultures in order to deconstruct their visual and material cultures, dress, and narratives that reveal structures of meaning and identity. Her first book Body Style (2012) is about subcultural body modifications, and her second book, Costuming Cosplay: Dressing the Imagination (2018) focuses on the global fandom of Cosplayers.Winge is currently researching subcultural dress within fandoms and music scenes for identity construction.

SOCIOLOGIST, WRITER, EDUCATOR

Victor P. Corona, Ph.D., is a sociologist, author of Lambda Award nominee Night Class: A Downtown Memoir (Soft Skull Press, 2017), and editor of the Emerson Journal of Cultural Studies. He teaches at Emerson College’s LA campus and California State University, Los Angeles. Dr. Corona's writing on culture appears in VICE, Los Angeles Review of Books, GO Magazine, New York Art Beat, PopMatters, and elsewhere. Born in Mexico City, he earned a B.A. at Yale and Ph.D. at Columbia.

RESEARCHER & JAPANOLOGIST

Jana Katzenberg is a PhD researcher in the Department of Japanese Studies at the University of Cologne. In the context of her dissertation she is researching the fashion space Tokyo in relation to usage practices, social space and media discourse. Her research interests include fashion and consumer culture, print media, and sub and popular culture.
